100 animal objects, principally from Africa but also from Asia, Melanesia and Mexico, are being exhibited in "ANIMAL". All facets of tribal art are represented: small metal animal figures that served as jewelry or money can be seen alongside vessels, (?musical) instruments and furniture in the shape of animals, and there are also some large masks for rituals and religious worship - works whose style permanently influenced Classic Modernism and artists like Picasso and Braque.
According to the World Conservation Union, one quarter of all mammals are threatened with extinction.
Once again, the Foundation Art for Tropical Forests will therefore use the proceeds of this exhibition to support projects intended to maintain the diversity of species.
